Open Painter Connect

The bridge between your account and Blender.

A small, open-source companion extension. The painter itself stays offline and never needs it.

  1. Step 1

Click Sign in inside Blender. Connect shows a short code and opens this site; approve it and you're done. No password is ever typed into Blender.

  2. Step 2

    Sync

Connect asks which packs your account can access, compares versions and checksums with what's installed, and shows Install or Update per pack.

  3. Step 3

    Install

Packs download over a short-lived signed link, are verified by SHA-256, and land in Open Painter's library as ordinary .openpaintmaterial files.

  4. Step 4

    Keep

If a subscription ends, installed files stay on disk. Connect simply stops offering updates and new packs. It isn't DRM.

Why a separate extension?

Open Painter promises no accounts, no network and no subscription in the core. Connect is where all of that lives instead — declared with Blender's network permission, GPL-licensed, and auditable. Remove it, and the painter keeps working with everything you installed.

Your sign-in token lives in Blender's config directory, never in your preferences file. Connect only ever touches files it installed itself.
