Your work stays yours.

Models, textures, materials, games, and other assets you create using Open Painter are not subject to the Open Painter license.

Explore the authoring tools. Materials+ and Teams are separate content and library services. See licensing details for Community and Studio eligibility.

At the threshold

The Community commercial-use threshold is below $10,000 USD in annual gross revenue. An organization with exactly $10,000 USD, or more, requires a Studio License when using Open Painter in commercial production.

Source available

You can use, modify and learn from the source under the applicable Open Painter license. Open Painter is described as source-available, rather than open-source, because commercial production use by qualifying organizations requires a Studio License.

Materials and services

Materials+ and Teams provide content and shared-library services. Their subscriptions are separate from the Open Painter Studio License. Downloaded packs carry their own terms, including the Materials+ license; the ownership statement above concerns the assets you create using Open Painter.

See pricing for available services, or contact support@openpainter.dev about a Studio License.
