Teams
A shared material library that every member installs from Connect, with roles, invites and optional approval.
On this page 5 sections
A team is a shared material library. Members upload .openpaintmaterial files on the website; the platform packages the approved ones into a pack, and every member installs and updates it from Connect like any other pack. The team plan covers the shared library, member management and sync. Software licensing is separate: see Open Painter Community and Studio.
Create a team
- Sign in and open Account › Teams, then click New team.
- Give it a name and choose the revenue band that describes the team.
- You become the owner. Invite members, upload materials, and connect Blender.
| Annual revenue | Plan | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Under $10K | Free | — |
| $10K – $200K | Team Growth | $50 / month |
| Over $200K | Team Pro | $99 / month |
The band is self-declared, as with Unity and Unreal. Under $10K the team tier is granted automatically. Above it, a subscription is needed before the library syncs to members — but uploads are always allowed, so a team can prepare its library before subscribing. The band can be changed later in the team's settings.
The shared library
- In Open Painter, save a material or a folder from Assets › Library (or Save Folder as Module).
- On the team page, click Upload materials and pick one or more
.openpaintmaterialfiles (up to 512 MiB each). Format 3 materials and format 4 modules are accepted and validated on upload. The platform validator is versioned separately from the painter; an unsupported newer record can require a platform/Connect update. - Each upload gets a preview swatch, a layer and channel summary and an install name. Approved materials go into the next library build.
The team page shows the library's Connect id (team-<slug>) and its current version. Every change to the approved set produces a new version — members see Update available in Connect and pick it up with Update or Update all. Installed team materials appear in each member's Open Painter library under the team's prefix, and imported modules keep their folders, paint layers and packed textures.
Approval
With Uploads by members wait for approval turned on in the team settings, a member's upload is marked Pending and stays out of the library until an owner or admin clicks Approve. Owners and admins' own uploads are approved immediately. Unpublish removes a material from the next build without deleting it; Delete removes it. Members can delete their own uploads.
Members and roles
| Role | Can |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything an admin can. The person who created the team; cannot be removed from it. |
| Admin | Invite and remove members, change the plan and settings, approve, unpublish and delete any material. |
| Member | Install the library from Connect, upload materials, delete their own uploads, leave the team. |
Invite someone sends an email with a link that is valid for 14 days; the invitee signs in or creates an account and joins with the role you chose. When a member is removed, their Connect stops offering the team library and new downloads are rejected; files already installed remain on their computer, as with any pack.
In Blender
Nothing team-specific is needed in Blender. Sign in to Connect with your own account; the team library appears in the Materials+ panel alongside your other packs, with the same Install, Update and Remove actions. Connect verifies checksums for team builds exactly as it does for Materials+ packs.
